Sustainability - responsibility is brewed in with us

We are driving the future of our private brewery forward with €22 million in two powerful phases: in 2023, one of Austria’s most sustainable storage and logistics halls was created from over 2,000 cubic meters of regional wood, some of which came from the Hirter Forest. Building on this, our ultra-modern bottle washing, filling and packaging plant went into operation in 2025, filling up to 30,000 bottles per hour with 10% less energy and 20% less water consumption. At the same time, we are using a fully electric vehicle fleet in the field service. In doing so, we are setting new standards in efficiency and sustainability.

We cover around 80% of our electricity requirements directly on site: photovoltaic modules on our roofs generate around 950,000 kWh per year, two hydropower plants feed in emission-free electricity, and geothermal energy and groundwater heat pumps ensure our sustainable heating and cooling cycles. In this way, we consistently rely on renewable energies and reduce our ecological footprint.

We recycle over 80% of the CO₂ produced during fermentation – directly into the brew and into the sparkling carbonation of our Hirter Crush lemonades. The waste heat generated during the brewing process heats our private brewery and treated water supplies our cooling systems. In every step, we make sure that no energy is lost. In this way, we conserve resources and brew with sustainable passion.

The special location of our private brewery is the foundation for our first-class beer and our variety of 15 beer specialties. Surrounded by magnificent nature, we source most of our raw materials from the region. With every bottle of Hirter beer, we strengthen regional added value, maintain close partnerships and preserve genuine brewing craftsmanship.
